Van Lawick is an ancient noble family from the Over-Betuwe, with a history dating back to the 13th century. The male members traditionally bore the title 'Knight' and belonged to the knighthoods of Zutphen and Nijmegen. From 1893 onward, several members were formally recognised as belonging to the Dutch nobility, all bearing the title of baron or baroness.
