The Aebinga van Humalda family belongs to the old nobility of Friesland. Its progenitor is Andlef Abbengha, recorded in 1438 as the owner of Abbengha State in Blija (Ferwerderadeel). Later generations used the names Abbema, Abingen, Humalda, Van Humalda and Aebinga van Humalda.
